Osvaldo Canziani is Professor in Physics (INPS) (1941-1944), MSc in Meteorology and Diploma (Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London (1946-1948). He also obtained his PhD in Meteorology at Buenos Aires University (1953). He has been a lecturer in several update and knowledge acquisition courses, particularly on various issues inherent to climate change and its social and economic aspects.
He is currently an international consultant on atmospheric and environmental issues; he is vice-president of the Club of Rome (Argentinean Chapter), academician and member of the Executive Committee of Argentinean Academy of Environmental Sciences, Professor with Tenure at the University of Belgrano. On the other hand, he is also Postgraduate level professor at UBA (National University of Buenos Aires) and UCA (Argentine Catholic University). He is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague; member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Regional Environmental Change", Springer; member of the Argentinean Meteorologist Centre; member of the Argentinean Institute of Water Resources; member of the Argentinean Society of Doctors for the Environment; Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Environmental Protection Agency (AprA), Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and Science Advisor of the Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Climate Change Forum.
He has been decorated by the Paraguayan government and has received varied honours from several governments in Latin America, and has been co-participant in the Nobel Peace Prize 2007, as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has also been conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (National University of Cordoba), 2008, and by Universidad Nacional del Sur (National University of the South), 2008. He was awarded the Human Rights Prize granted by B´Nai B´Rith Foundation. (2008).
