14 Jun II Meeting of LATIN AMERICAN CHAPTERS in Mexico
Mexico was the host-country for the II Meeting of Latin-American Chapters of the Club of Rome that was held during the 16th and 17th of May. The meeting was celebrated in the beautiful reception room of the Industrial’s Club in Mexico City and was chaired by the President of the Club of Rome’s Mexican Section, Gerardo Gil Valdivia.
The issue of the two journeys meeting was “The water and the regional sustainability”.
Ms. Silvia Zimmermann del Castillo presented the Hydric Situation in Argentina, and was followed by Héitor Gurgulino de Souza who referred to the Water in Brazil.
Susana Chacón summarized on the Water in North America. There were several prestigious experts invited to the meeting who had the opportunity to debate on this matter.
Cassio Luiselli offered his interesting point of view on the water in Latin America. Meanwhile Victor Lichtinger discussed on droughts and their impact on the economy.
Dr. Eugenio Gómez Reyes and Antonio Alonso Concheiro talked about the future and problems of water in Mexico. There were other participants to the meeting as the Vicepresident of the International Club of Rome, Dr. Roberto Peccei who introduced the Club of Rome and explained the role for preserving global commons.
A Joint Report on water situation in the American continent will be presented in the Club of Rome’s Annual Assembly that will take place in Ottawa during the month of September.
The Club of Rome will shortly publish the presentations exposed on the II Summit of Latin American Chapters.
